Highfield Level 4 IQA Qualifications

Highfield Level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
This qualification is intended for individuals who wish to gain an understanding of the principles and practices of internal quality assurance without any requirement to practise as an IQA. It is ideal for those who want to improve their knowledge of IQA processes, such as managers or those in quality assurance roles.
- GLH (Guided Learning Hours): 45 hours | Credits: 6
- Ideal For: Those who need theoretical understanding without practical IQA responsibilities.
Course Structure:
- Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment
This unit is knowledge-based and covers the theory behind IQA processes, delivered through Written Assessment and Professional Discussion.
Duration: 1-3 months
Delivery of a training workshop (virtual or in-person) and a workbook for this one unit.
Highfield Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
This qualification is designed for those who are responsible for maintaining and improving the quality of assessments within their organisation. It equips learners with both the theory and practical skills required to conduct IQA activities.
- GLH (Guided Learning Hours): 90 hours | Credits: 12
- Ideal For: IQAs responsible for evaluating assessment processes but who do not lead a team.
Course Structure:
- Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment
Knowledge-based unit, delivered via Written Assessment and Professional Discussion. - Unit 2 – Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment
In this unit, you will monitor two assessors, each with at least two learners of their own. Practical assessments are carried out in the workplace.
Duration: 3-6 months
Delivery of a training workshop (virtual or in-person) for each unit with workbook, full documentation and templates.
Highfield Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
This is the highest qualification for IQAs, designed for those who lead a team of internal quality assurers or manage IQA processes within an organisation. It equips you with the skills to lead, plan, allocate, and monitor internal quality assurance activities and manage external quality assurance (EQA) visits.
- GLH (Guided Learning Hours): 115 hours | Credits: 17
- Ideal For: Senior IQAs who are responsible for leading a team and overseeing internal quality assurance processes.
Course Structure:
- Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment
Knowledge-based, completed through Written Assessment and Professional Discussion. - Unit 2 – Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment
Practical unit, where you monitor two assessors with their learners. - Unit 3 – Plan, Allocate and Monitor Work in Own Area of Responsibility
This unit covers how to plan, allocate, and monitor IQA activities within your own area of responsibility.
Duration: 6-9 months
Delivery of a training workshop (virtual or in-person) for each unit with workbook, full documentation and templates
